Project: Manufacture of a rod mill
The rod mill used at Yara’s factory had been in service since 1979. In 2017, it was decided to purchase a new mill, and the assembly and replacement work was carried out in 2018. The new rod mill is expected to serve mining operations for the next 30 years.
The assembly of the rod mill frame included:
- Installation of wear plates
- Tightening of hundreds of bolts
- Installation of end piece bearing housings
- Surface treatment: fast-drying, semi-gloss, single-component alkyd paint containing rust-inhibiting pigments, shade RAL1015
Transport and installation:
The 150-ton roller mill was transported from the machine shop to the factory on a 14-axle flatbed truck.
During the replacement, we removed the old mill rollers and installed 800 new rollers, for which we designed and manufactured a special feed track.
The installation work was completed ahead of schedule and the project was a complete success.
This project was a demonstration of efficient implementation and sustainable design, ensuring continuity of production for decades to come.
