Project: Psychiatric building on the campus of Kuopio University Hospital.
A new psychiatric building was constructed on the campus of Kuopio University Hospital between 2022 and 2024. The aim of the project was to centralize the mental health services of the Kuopio region in one building, improving the availability and smoothness of care. The construction project was part of the larger KYS Uudistuu project, which aims to modernize the university hospital’s facilities.
Rakenneasennus acted as a subcontractor for Rakennustoimisto K. Tervo Oy, responsible for several demanding steel construction tasks. The work included, among other things:
- Manufacture, surface treatment, and installation of steel structures for the tunnel
- Flame cutting of tower crane anchors
- Welding of elements
- Installation of steel structures for the fresh air chamber, treatment levels, stairwell and roof terrace
- Manufacture and installation of steel levels for connecting columns and IV shafts
- Manufacture, surface treatment and installation of eaves supports and support structures for long-distance cooling pipes
- Maintenance platforms on the roof around the Retermia heat recovery system, including dimensioning, design, manufacture, and installation
We carried out the project in close cooperation with the main contractor and other parties, ensuring high-quality construction that progressed on schedule.
