Project: Steel structures for a small hydropower plant
Finland’s first project of its kind was launched to save the lake salmon population. The hydropower company began building a new small hydropower plant to ensure sufficient water flow to the lake salmon’s vital breeding grounds.
We were involved in this unique project by supplying Laurinvirta’s small hydropower plant with two massive machine gates, machine towers, lifting mechanisms with maintenance platforms, and sill and threshold steels. Our contract covered the manufacture of the products, site deliveries, and installations. The steel was treated in our own paint shop with a two-component, iron oxide pigmented, low-solvent, thick-film epoxy and polyurethane paint in shades #RAL3020, RAL9016, and RAL7016.
One of the heated machine doors rises to a height of 7.7 meters and is 6.5 meters wide. We were also responsible for designing the lifting mechanisms, ensuring their reliability and functionality in demanding conditions.
